The first time I learned about “brand” and privilege was when some kid wearing Nike sneakers made fun of my shoes and said “What are those? BiWay shoes? Are you poor?”
They were, in fact, from BiWay. We weren’t poor, and I liked my sneakers. My parents let me pick them out myself. But I learned then and there that there was a “cool” version of something and a “not cool” version.
Being a kid in the 80s was a magical time.
I bet it’s EXACTLY the same now, only now kids with the “not cool” stuff get “put on blast” [am I using that right] through SnapChat, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, etc. The embarrassment is much wider spread. The consequences for being “not cool” are farther reaching and I worry what that will do to the kids coming up now and in the future.
This is a long way to say, “Hey guys! BiWay is coming back!“
Also, I’m taking my kid there IMMEDIATELY. 👍
